I recently spent Christmas at a hostel in Whitney and had a mixed experience. The best aspects were the beautiful view of the river from the common kitchen and eating area. It created a peaceful and serene atmosphere, especially in the morning with the mist rising from the water. Another positive was the well-equipped kitchen with a grill and log wood barbecue, perfect for cooking meals together with family and friends. the room had an electric space heater that kept it cozy and comfortable in the cool weather.
There were a few aspects that I didn't like. The rooms and washrooms were quite worn down, and there were issues with water oozing out from the floor in the washroom after taking a shower.

Some areas of the hostel, such as the entry and common areas, are in need of upgrading.
